Whitman Academy High School offers a small school setting where students receive personal attention from qualified staff who are dedicated to making sure each student succeeds. Because the student body is under 100 people, students have many opportunities to develop their talents and giftings in drama, student government, music, art, and leadership in academic excellence within the school and really make a difference. Each student counts and is needed to make the department run well.
In the high school, the school’s motto “Get a G.R.I.P. on life“- (G.R.I.P. godliness, responsibility, inquisitiveness and the pursuit of excellence) takes on life as students are encouraged to get involved and take control of their academic and social lives.
We depend on students to take an active role in running the school activities. Students run the music ministry for weekly chapel, organize hot lunches, put on school-wide celebrations, lead prayer meetings, organize parties, sports teams, and many other activities.
Each winter we put on a major drama production, in the spring, an art show, and every other year a science fair.
AP classes are available for physics, calculus, English language, and English literature.
We have an active leadership training program for students that show potential leadership qualities. In the fall a student delegation attends the Association of Christian Schools International Student Leadership Conference in Budapest, Hungary where they meet and interact with other high schoolers from all over Europe and Asia. Students return with a renewed vision for making a difference in the school as well as their personal spiritual lives.
Students interested in team sports and competition can join Amman Little League for soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring.
For students who enjoy being involved in an instrumental band, we have an ongoing agreement with a local school that allows Whitman students to take part of the band which includes concerts and band camps.
Take time to look at the course offerings and descriptions to get familiar with the curriculum offerings and educational opportunities we have to offer.
